A delightful three-minute narrative of five designer chairs moving in various positions, set to Jean-Philippe Rameau's 'La Poule'. Detailed close-ups of shades and colours.

"The very first film I made. Starck's chairs are set to Rameau's 'The Hen' and, like hens, the chairs have their feet firmly planted on the ground - for most of the time at least." - Paul Melia

My Name Is (2003)

My Name Is

An interesting experimental short mixture of sound based on a 1967 composition of the same name by Steve Reich.

" 'My Name Is' is based on a 1967 composition by Steve Reich. Reich's score was never published, my film is based on Reich's description of his piece in his 'Collected Writings'." - Paul Melia

Einstein by the Door (2003)

Einstein by the Door

An abstract fluttering in the visual wind, set appropriately to Einstein on the Beach by Philip Glass.

"Einstein by the Door places your attention firmly on the surface of your television screen." - Paul Melia

Window (2003)

Window

Another appropriately scored film. A version of Brian Eno's '1/1' compliments the view through a window, the contrast of light with impressions on the surface of a window, and then a slow teasing sunlight partly hidden by the branches and leaves of a tree in the breeze. Dreamy.

"In Window a view on and then through a pane of glass is accompanied by Bang on a Can's 1998 recording of Brian Eno's '1/1'. Like Eno's composition, this film accommodates many levels of attention: it is ignorable as it is interesting." - Paul Melia
